about

What can’t be ignored in this break up song is the unusual bass playing by Simon’s brother Peter
Lane. Listen out for the high counter-point details which play brilliantly to the song’s
premise; an emotional maelstrom which begins with decision-making – should I go, should I stay – and peaks with a final wail of frustration, relief, and angst about what is to come. Sitting is about
making tough decisions and following your instincts, believing in yourself despite the noise of
advice around you. The music is delivered in 6:8 time and the arrangement, as tight as ever, is
deliberately frantic. Enjoy – and don’t forget to listen out for that bass.
